FAQ’s

Question:

Are the measurements listed inside or outside dimensions?

Answer:

All of our listed dimensions are outside dimensions of the product (the amount of room they will take up) and are approximate. With rustic furniture dimensions will vary from piece to piece.

Question:

What’s the difference between clear finish and liquid glass (bar pour)?

Answer:

Clear finish does protect the beauty of your wood on the tops of dining tables, coffee tables, and kitchen islands. These pieces of furniture usually experience heavy use or a presence of water or other liquids. Having liquid glass applied to the top not only completely seals the wood against the damage these situations can cause to the finish, but the wood as well.

Liquid glass is not hot molten glass poured onto wood, that would burn the wood. You should not set a dish straight out of the oven on your liquid glass table, or leave wet items on your table continuously – it will mar the liquid glass finish.

How hard will it be to assemble your rustic furniture?

Answer:

Most of the pieces Cabin Appeal offers are shipped pre-assembled, but some are shipped partially assembled, or in case of the Log Bed Kits, mostly unassembled.  You need only common household tools to finish construction. The step by step instructions will be simple to understand and all the pieces and hardware required will be in the shipping cartons.

Your location in the country also has a substantial impact on freight delivery time frames.  Cabin Appeal will give you an approximate ship date with your order confirmation.

Question:

What can I do with my unfinished wood product?

Answer:

You can leave the wood alone and it will eventually producing a natural looking, gray weathered appearance.  Other options are staining, painting, or applying a varnish to the bare wood.   We strongly recommend a varnish as it brings out the natural beauty of the wood while protecting it for many years.

Question:

What type of natural imperfections can I expect in wood furniture?

Answer:

All log furniture may incur checking (cracks in the wood surface) that may be of various sizes.  Knots are also very common in these types of furniture. These minor imperfections only add to the uniqueness and character of the wood product.  Even with naturally occurring imperfections, there is no compromise in wood strength or function. Think if this as personal branding of your one-of-a-kind furniture.
